Joana is the Public Sector Social Services Lead for IBM Australia and New Zealand. In this role Joana is responsible for IBM’s delivery of consulting, strategy and change and application solutions to the social services sector working across policy and service delivery. Joana has led strategic engagements for social services organisations in areas such as business strategy, customer segmentation strategy, business process re-engineering, enterprise maturity assessments, case management, business analytics and systems integration. Joana engages at Secretary and Ministerial levels to deliver value to organisations.
As the ANZ Lead for Social Services, Joana leverages a broader IBM Social Services Team of over 30 business consultants from across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, North America, South America and ANZ. This team brings valuable perspectives to the design and delivery of social policy gathered from its active global engagements. In parallel this team works alongside IBM’s other Industry Teams including Retail and Financial Services, bringing cross-industry perspectives to bear.
Joana has a Business Strategy and Management background with over 12 years of Public Sector experience engaging at senior levels to deliver key solutions.
Joana joined IBM after managing CSC’s largest national business, where she was Director of their public sector services business with a team of approximately 300 staff members. Joana’s responsibilities spanned across delivery, business governance and strategy. In her time at CSC, Joana sustained relationships at Ministerial, and Departmental Executive levels. The trust which clients place in her advice is demonstrated in the fact that Joana was invited to join a Federal Government Deputy Secretary in Border Control discussions overseas aimed at improving Asia Pacific cross border security. She led the establishment of the first Memorandum of Understanding between CSC’s US Federal Practice and CSC Australia.
Joana commenced her career at Philips Electronics. She graduated from the University of NSW in 1994 with a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Marketing. She held a three year scholarship with the University.
