Maria Horrigan PhotoMia is a senior executive manager and information and communications specialist. She has over 10 years senior management experience within the information technology and healthcare environment with demonstrated application of Agile methodology and user centered design. Mia has a reputation for innovation, managing change, driving strategy implementation and successfully delivering programs.
 
Currently, Mia is the CIO at the Australian Health Insurance Association. In this role Mia provides IT strategic advice on Health Informatics in the Private Hospital environment to support the 21 member health funds the AHIA represents (which equates to 90% of the industry and over 11.4 million privately insured people which is 52% of Australia's population).
 
Mia has extensive experience consulting with federal government and leading large federal government systems development and directing projects such as large scale business system reviews, development of requirements, systems planning and change management. Mia is able to quickly engage with stakeholders, and she has a great understanding of the issues, risks and benefits of proposed changes within the information and communication environment.

 
Mia has completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA), a Post Graduate Diploma in Management, Bachelor of Commerce and PRINCE2 certification. Mia has extensive experience in Healthcare due to her 15 years experience in the Health Consulting and the Medical/Pharmaceutical Industry. She is also a Healthcare professional having worked in the Health industry for many years.
